Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 29, 2026

In short

We are LowFlow ("LowFlow", "we"). Unlike most trading-journal software, LowFlow runs100% locally on your computer: creating an account is optional, and your trades never pass through our servers. We only share your personal information with third parties to the extent necessary to provide services you explicitly request (explained in detail below).

Updates to this policy

We may update this privacy policy at our discretion by posting a new version on this site. We invite you to check this page occasionally to make sure you're happy with any changes.

Personal information we collect

Since creating a client account is optional, we only collect what's necessary for the purchase, activation, security, and support of your license:

  1. Purchase — when you purchase a license, your email and payment information are collected by the payment processor Stripe (we never see or store your card number) and kept solely for billing purposes.
  2. Machine identifier (HWID) — a technical identifier generated locally on your computer, used to lock your license to your device. This identifier cannot personally identify you and is never associated with your trading data.
  3. Client account (optional) — if you choose to create an account, we keep your email, your password (never in plain text, always irreversibly hashed), an identifier unique to you, and the list of devices you've linked to it. This account protects your license and lets you recover access if you switch computers; it is never required to use the software and is never associated with your trading data.
  4. Approximate location (IP address) — at each license check, an approximate location (country, city) is determined from your IP address using a third-party service (ip-api.com). This information is used solely to detect abnormal use (for example, the same license used from two different countries in a short time) and is never used for commercial tracking or advertising purposes.
  5. Bug report (optional) — if you choose to send a bug report from the application, an explicit consent checkbox must be ticked. The report contains only: your HWID, the software version, your platform, a description of the issue (max. 2000 characters), and an excerpt of technical logs (max. 4000 characters). No trading data (amounts, positions, accounts) is included.
  6. Launch-price reservation (optional) — if you use the reservation form on this site, your email is sent directly through your own mail client; we only receive it if you choose to send that message.
  7. Correspondence — if you contact us by email for support, we keep that correspondence so we can respond to you properly.

Optional features using your own key

Two optional features communicate with third parties, only when you turn them on and using your own access key:

  • AI Assistant — your questions are sent to the AI provider of your choice (Anthropic or OpenAI) only when you ask a question, using your own API key. We never have access to the content of these exchanges.
  • Ticker bar — if you enable it, a request is sent to a quote provider (using your own key) to display live market prices.

How we share your information

We share your personal information with third parties only in the following cases:

  • Payment — processed by the payment processor Stripe.
  • Legal obligations — if required to comply with a legal obligation, a court order, or legal proceedings.
  • Business transfer — if we sell our business or our assets are acquired by a third party, license-related information may be part of the transferred assets.

We never sell your personal information for advertising purposes.

Cookies and tracking technologies

This website uses a minimal number of cookies strictly necessary for it to function. We do not use advertising or behavioral-tracking cookies. The Software itself (the LowFlow application) uses no cookies at all: there's no browser, so there are no cookies.

Retention period

We keep your personal information (email, billing information) for as long as necessary to support your license and meet our legal and tax obligations. Optional bug reports are kept for as long as needed to resolve the reported issue, then deleted or anonymized.

Where your data is stored

Your trading data stays on your own computer at all times. Purchase-related information (email, billing) is processed by the payment processor Stripe, which may host this data outside Canada. In such cases, appropriate safeguards apply in accordance with applicable law.

Security of your information

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we hold. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

This site and this software are not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18.

Your rights (Law 25 — Quebec)

In accordance with the Act Respecting the Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector (Law 25, Quebec), you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you;
  • Have any inaccurate information corrected;
  • Withdraw your consent to future collection of optional information;
  • Request deletion of your information, subject to our legal and tax obligations.

To exercise any of these rights, write to us. We respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days.
